OVVO made its debut in the U.S. in 2011, but its history in Europe goes back to the Cold War era. That’s when a group of scientists working in the aerospace industry fused surgical steel and titanium, resulting in a material that is exceptionally light, durable and flexible, but that is also hypoallergenic.
Inspired by these unique qualities, OVVO began manufacturing eyeglass frames in the 1980s. They are handmade, produced entirely in Germany and Poland.
Weighing a mere 0.6 ounces, OVVO frames are both incredibly wearable AND durable. Tests have shown that the frame, stretched flat, can hold 90 pounds without failing. Their screw free hinge can withstand 300,000 open/close cycles without change to the structure or function.
OVVO is 100% manufactured in family owned European plants where each frame undergoes between 65 and 85 steps to its completion. The end product is a flawless piece of art whose function and durability belie its lightweight, stealthy feel on the face.
